Data replication is the process of duplicating the same data at different locations, sites, or nodes. The main purpose of data replication is to improve the availability and accessibility of data. In other words, data replication consists of copying data from a database from a server to another which allows you to store and maintain an external, separate copy of your data.
The data replication can be done on-demand or in real-time as the data is entered, altered, or erased in the main database system. There are also two different types of replication: partial or complete replication.
Salesforce is a cloud-based software company that provides customer relationship management (CRM) service and a complementary suite of enterprise applications focused on customer service, marketing automation, analytics, and application development.
If you are using Salesforce to manage your CRM, then it might be useful to replicate your data to create and store a separate copy of your organization. The replicated data can be exploited for many specialized uses, such as data warehousing, data mining, custom reporting, analytics, and integration with other applications.
